I am very externally motivated and words of affirmation are my love language, so written or verbal acknowledgement are important to me. I am also very data & outcome driven so I like setting targets, goals, and metrics and monitoring progress towards tangible outcomes.
Not seeing impact. I get very demotivated when I don’t see how the work I am doing is making an impact for the team or organization. If you see me struggling, remind me of how my work contributes to the bigger pictures.
I use Slack as my main way of engaging with our team.
I almost never turn off my Slack notifications and check it frequently on my phone when I am not at my desk, so I can usually respond pretty quickly.
I also like listening to audio notes if it’s lengthy or complex to explain.
I prefer you try asynchronous methods first so that I can ingest it when I am able; I do not like being called to “jump into a call right now” as I likely had something planned for that time (see below).
I reserve texts for mostly personal use, so I don’t work with my phone next to me (I find it distracting) so texts & calls are only good in case of emergency.
When I get stressed, I get hyper focused on my to do list and become very task oriented. If I am seem short, very direct, if I don’t ask about your life, if I am not laughing or making jokes, it’s because I am stressed out.
I can get very direct and blunt when I get stressed out.
I am a planner by nature & background, so I like to map out my day before it starts.
